WE ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE

January 2006

Happy New Year!

Dear Friends,

Greetings from Uganda! I would like to first of all wish you a Happy New Year and to wish you all God’s blessings in 2006! We finished 2005 very well. Our school year finished in early December after our senior students in O and A Levels successfully completed their national exams. Thank you so much for all your prayers throughout that exercise. Now they are at home waiting for their results.

(‘O’ Level Exam Candidates. After four years of study, this is it!

I had a wonderful trip to the Diocese of Oklahoma in October and November where I was given many opportunities to speak to church groups, schools and Rotary Clubs. Thanks go out to Fr. Patrick Bright and All Souls Church Oklahoma City for inviting me for a visit and offering me wonderful hospitality, and to all who made my time there very enjoyable. Of course I’m at my happiest when I’m talking about the life and ministry of Bishop McAllister College. Special thanks go out to Bishop Moody, Carol and Mark Williams, Tom and Laura Wilson and to all who made me feel very welcome and listened patiently to my presentations. A highlight for me was when Tom Williams picked me up in his plane when I was returning from Tulsa to Oklahoma City. I must confess that I had a few reservations and the first few minutes after leaving the ground were definitely fear-filled but I eventually was able to relax and enjoy the trip. Even flew the plane! Thanks Tom!

That’s me with the flying controls! Tom and Paul back on the ground in Oklahoma. City.
A Flying Missionary? A wonderful experience!

We are very honoured and excited to have been chosen to participate in this year’s Anglican Appeal “We are all God’s People”. The students at Bishop McAllister College contributed the art work in this year’s campaign poster. Check out a larger version at the back of your local Church.

Christmas was somehow a bit quiet here at the school. Although we don’t begin the new school year until February 6, things are definitely picking up. The student workers have resumed digging ( a never ending task), footballers report for training in a couple of days, Senior Four computer students report for a special program on the 16. All this should keep us busy for the remaining weeks of our holidays.

As we begin 2006 I have much to be thankful. First of all I give thanks to God who has called me to His wonderful service, particularly here at Bishop McAllister College. I’m completing my 8 year here in May and praying that God willing I will be here a few more years yet. It is very exciting to be part of what God is doing here at the school. Secondly I would like to thank all of you who have so generously supported me all these years, making it possible for me to serve here as a Volunteer In Mission through your financial contributions. I pray that by God’s grace you will be able to continue to support me as a Volunteer In Mission.

Your contributions can continue to be sent to...

That is all our news for now. Please continue to keep us in your prayers. Special prayer requests are

  1. Join us in giving thanks for all the blessings of God in 2005 at BMCK.

  2. Pray for those who are at the school throughout January, student workers, footballers, computer students and staff.

  3. Pray for the students and staff who continue on their vacations, that they may have a safe and blessed holiday, and a good rest.

Pray for the Rev. John Tremblay and Eddie Masson as they prepare to travel to be with us at the end of January and for their time here. Eddie will be wiring the new extension to the computer lab, and John will teaching in the Computer Studies Program.

You are also in our prayers.

God Bless!

Paul
