News From Uganda! January 2009 Dear Friends, Greetings from Uganda! We have entered the New Year well at this end, and hope it has been the same for all of you. We finished the school year very well and closed successfully for the school year at the end of November. Thank you all so much for all your prayers and financial support. You are all are very big part of this ministry and we are so appreciative for all that you do for us. In November 19 staff and students traveled to Kampala to participate in the Annual MTN 10 km Run for the 2nd consecutive year. What a great time everyone had, with our best runner finishing in the 51st place, out of 10,000 participants. We continue to pray that such activities as this will inspire our students and staff to take up challenges in their lives with faith and hard work so that they might achieve success in their lives. (And we are off!) (Principal & students) (Staff Participants) The highlight of 2008 for me was our Service of Thanksgiving in the last week of November. We gathered together in the gardens outside of the Chapel, students, staff, board members, and our neighbors from the surrounding community and glorified God for the great things he has done at Bishop McAllister College over the past 10 years. And truly God has blessed us wonderfully, and it was right that we should give Him thanks. It was ten years ago that very month when a meeting took place at the school to discuss closing it for good. But instead those gathered together proposed instead that we take a step of faith and begin to offer secondary education. Look at this place 10 years later, wow! “To God be the Glory for the great things He has done here at Bishop McAllister College Kyogyera!” For me it was also a personal celebration of Thanksgiving as this past May I marked ten wonderful years at the school. I continue to be very thankful that God has called me to His service here at BMCK and count myself to be very privileged and blessed indeed! It was a wonderful day of celebration, with worship, preaching of the word, speeches, dancing & singing, and of course feasting. (Rt. Rev. William Magambo, retired) (Mrs. Ruth Sande, BOG) (Celebrating with dance) What a wonderful to end the term and the school year. We closed on a very positive note two days later saying bye bye to one another until we meet in the New Year. (Students Receiving Reports) (Everace S.5 1st in her class!) With school to begin a new year in just two weeks, we are excitedly waiting for students to return. It looks like another exciting and challenging year is in store for us. We are opening a new primary section beginning with grade one, hoping to have the dining hall roofed and a staff house complete all with in the next six weeks, as all the usual activities of first term. Please continue to keep us in your prayers. Special prayer requests are
You are also in our prayers. God Bless! Paul
